About The Project

The By the Hand Club for Kids (Chicago Housing Authority) project includes the complete renovation of a two-story facility used for after school programs, offering local children a safe haven for learning. Because of the age and condition of the existing building, the team encountered a variety of unique structural challenges.

Our team worked alongside structural experts to identify and solve numerous substructure and superstructure issues which facilitated a new design to support the intended elevator system and rooftop for mechanical loads. We executed an extensive coordination exercise, looping in the client as we evaluated solutions. Thanks to these efforts, our team delivered a safe and usable community space for children. The project engaged multiple minority partners.
