GSA U.S. Customs House Elevator Upgrades

About The Project

The U.S. Custom House located in the City of Chicago in the Central Business district. The 12-story U.S. Customs House in Chicago is currently used as office space primarily for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The facility was constructed in 1932 and is currently undergoing multiple renovations.

CCC Holdings, Inc. is managing the modernization of 4 passenger elevators and 1 freight elevator in a phased sequence. Work includes new elevator machines, controls and a complete repair and overhaul of the elevator shafts. In addition, electrical and mechanical upgrades are being made to the elevator machine room.

The project is planned to be completed five months ahead of schedule.

There are owner change orders on the project as a result of unforeseen conditions during the renovations of the existing elevators and work that needs to be completed with the elevator shafts.
