Whether it's new construction or renovations and restorations, our hands are always busy.
Below are some of the projects that are currently underway with CCC Holdings and our variety of wonderful clients.
CDB - Kankakee IDOT Testing Lab
NEW CONSTRUCTION / RENOVATION
Through the Capital Development Board (CDB), an Illinois State Department, we are constructing a new Materials Testing Lab building of approximately 5,060 square feet for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) in Kankakee, and renovating an existing Maintenance Garage building of approximately 5,000 square feet.
CDB - Michael A. Bilandic Building Interiors
RENOVATION
Includes demolition and replacement of roof, improvements to security and life safety systems, replacement of fire alarm system and lighting, and interior renovations.
City Colleges of Chicago (JOC) - Harold Washington College - Carpet Replacement / Office Furniture Remodel
REPLACEMENT / REMODEL
Project scope includes carpet removal, carpet replacement, and the addition of in-floor power and data for new cubicle configuration. The JOC includes abatement in the scope of work, with monitoring and testing handled separately. Project also requires coordination with the college to temporarily relocate staff and furnishings during the remodel.
CPS - Communications / Technology Upgrades Program
REMOVAL / REPLACEMENT
We have been awarded 36 CPS schools in which to update the communication and technology infrastructure systems. There will be two (2) new 6-strand fiber links added to the MDF, three (3) new data/printer cables, demo of existing data cabling and raceway, as well as 22 new wireless access points installed in accordance to CPS and design specifications. All new network cabling, patch panels, and patch cords will be upgraded to CAT 6.
The removal and replacement of existing LAN electronic equipment (i.e. hubs, switches, etc.) will be coordinated with the principal and IT coordinator at each school to minimize downtime to the school's admin and instructional network.
UIUC - Krannert Performing Arts Center - Elevators Replacement
RENOVATION
CCC is working with UIUC to complete elevator replacements on the campus' Krannert Art Museum building.
CDB - Malcolm X College Elevators
REPAIR / REPLACEMENT
Malcolm X College has eleven existing elevators - ten traction elevators and one hydraulic elevator. Six elevators have received a Conditional Certificate of Inspection from the City and are in use. The other five are out of service. The Project Scope includes improvements needed to make the building's elevator system compliant with applicable codes, and replacement of damaged or deteriorated equipment. Work includes penthouse level additions, hoistway repairs, and replacement of hoisting equipment for the traction elevators.
Work will be executed in two phases:
Phase One work will include:
- New penthouse level machine enclosures for seven elevators.
- Upgrades, including replacement of hoisting equipment, to make five out-of-service elevators operational.
- Individual, elevator-by-elevator testing and inspections needed to obtain an Operational Permit as each elevator is completed.
- Two elevators shall remain operational during Phase One work.
Phase Two work will include:
- New penthouse level machine enclosures for three elevators.
- Upgrades, including replacement of hoisting equipment, for five in-use elevators.
- Individual, elevator-by-elevator testing and inspections needed to obtain an Operational Permit as each elevator is completed.
- Final testing and inspection needed to obtain a Certificate of lnspection for each of the building’s eleven elevators.
CHA - Elevator Modernization - Packages #5, #16 & #17
RENOVATION
CCC is part of a Task Order Competitive Contracting (TOCC) Master Agreement Program with Chicago Housing Authority (CHA). The Elevator Modernization Program requires all elevators in their buildings be upgraded with new equipment, controllers and cab finishes. In addition, elevator shafts and machine rooms are to be modified to bring them to current code standards (sump pits, HVAC upgrades, fire alarm upgrades, electrical upgrades and code-compliant handrails and safety ladders).
PACKAGE #5: Four buildings, each with two elevators, totaling 94 stops.
PACKAGE #16: Five buildings, seven elevators, totaling 62 stops.
PACKAGE #17: Four buildings, seven elevators, totaling 56 stops.
CPD - Norwood Park Windows Restoration
RENOVATION / RESTORATION
Much like a JOC contract, our work with Norwood Park is part of a Rapid Response contract. We are currently restoring windows throughout the park's fieldhouse.
CPS - Fort Dearborn School - Fire Restoration
RENOVATIONS / RESTORATIONS
UIUC - Central Campus Parking Structures Repairs
RENOVATIONS
Anticipated completion: April 18, 2022
The scope of work includes the restoration of Parking Structure C7 and C10. Work includes:
- The overhaul of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and components (C7 only)
- Installation of a new 150kW emergency power generator and concrete with brick veneer wall enclosure
- Trenching new electrical conduit lines
- Installation of fencing at the roof level
- Abandonment of existing slab PT tendon reinforcement and installation of supplemental steel beams (C7 only)
- Installation of new sheet pile retaining wall supporting struts (C10)
- Cleaning and painting of steel elements
- Miscellaneous concrete repairs
- Recoating the existing traffic bearing waterproofing membrane
- Façade repairs (pinning, masonry replacement/rebuilding, tuckpointing, joint sealant replacement)
- Replacement of coping stones
- Installation of thru-wall flashing
- Partial replacement of storefront
- Roofing replacement
The work in parking structure C10 has to be coordinated with the owner as this structure has to remain open through the duration of the construction. C7 is closed for the duration of the project.
CDB - Michael A. Bilandic Building Elevators
RENOVATION / REPLACEMENT
The scope of work provides for upgrading and modernizing 12 existing elevators for safety and code compliance, and to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency. Service elevators are being replaced with new cars, and passenger elevator cars are being retained with minor refurbishments. Existing elevator motors and controllers will be removed and replaced, including all power. New electrical feeders and disconnects will be provided, as well as card readers in each elevator cab. Electric strikes and cameras will be provided at approximately 10 locations, which will be integrated with Central Management Services Statewide Security.
Elevator Machine Rooms: Provide new LED light fixtures, conduit, wiring, switches, and GFI duplex receptacles. Provide detectors and connect to existing building fire alarm system.
Elevator Pits: Provide new GFI receptacles and pit lights in each elevator pit. Provide detectors in each pit and connect to existing building Fire Alarm System.

CPS - Caldwell Math and Science Academy - Roof Replacement

GSA - GAO Offices - Floors 7 & 9
RENOVATIONS
CCC is working with the General Services Administration (GSA) to perform renovations to the offices of the Government Accountability Offices (GAO). Work is currently being performed on floors 7 and 9. This project was solicited and procured as a total small business set-aside project.
The work involves approximately 15,943 sf and includes:
- Demolition of existing conditions including the existing fire alarm to construct offices, conference rooms, break room, mail room, and IT closet
- Provision of new infrastructure, cabling/tele-data, security, and finishes
- Ceiling work consists of new ceilings, new lighting, lighting controls, HVAC, and sprinkler
- The fire alarm is new but modifications may be needed per design.
Finishes included a two-by-two acoustical ceiling tile, painted gypsum board walls, carpet throughout. In some locations glass partitions are planned with sliding glass doors to isolate certain areas and rooms.
